Clinical Features:

A middle aged male patient came with

- Severe upper abdominal pain

- Vomiting


Ultrasound Features:

Irregular heterogeneous broad pancreas with small peripancreatic collection & surrounding fat stranding.


Remember:

In case of acute pancreatitis, search for pseudocyst at the epigastric region & calculus in the gallbladder.


Ultrasound Diagnosis:

Acute pancreatitis

Clinical Features:

A middle-aged female patient came with epigastric severe pain & vomiting.


Ultrasound Features:

- Pancreas is swollen & heterogeneously hypoechoic.

- Mild peripancreatic collection is noted.


Ultrasound Diagnosis:

Acute pancreatitis.


Remember:

Echogenicity of a normal pancreas is greater than normal liver, spleen & renal parenchyma.
